Frequently asked questions

What makes MossArtum different from other wall art studios?+

MossArtum is a small family-run studio where every artwork is designed and handcrafted by the two of us.

Rather than creating mass-produced décor, we create original wall art that reflects the story, space and personality of each client. Every project is approached individually, combining craftsmanship, thoughtful design and close collaboration throughout the creative process.

Can I commission a completely custom artwork?+

Absolutely.

Many of our favourite projects begin with nothing more than an idea, a memory or a simple conversation. Whether you already have a clear vision or only a starting point, we'll work together to develop it into a unique piece of art.

Can you create artwork inspired by my own idea?+

Yes.

You are welcome to share sketches, photographs, inspiration images or simply describe what you have in mind. Our role is not simply to reproduce an idea, but to transform it into an original artwork that is uniquely yours.

Can you copy an artwork I found online?+

We are happy to take inspiration from styles, themes or ideas that you like.

However, we do not create direct copies of another artist's work. Instead, we design an original piece inspired by what you love while respecting the creativity and intellectual property of other artists.

How does the design process work?+

Every commissioned artwork begins with a conversation.

We discuss your ideas, the intended space, dimensions, materials and overall style. As the concept develops, we refine the design together until we reach a solution that both you and we genuinely believe in. Only then do we prepare the final quotation and begin production.

How is the price determined?+

Because every commissioned artwork is unique, there is no fixed price list.

The final price is calculated after the design has been agreed upon, when the dimensions, materials, level of detail and production time are clearly defined. This ensures that you receive a fair quotation based on the artwork we will actually create, rather than an estimate made before the project exists.

How does payment work for commissioned artworks?+

We believe that trust should work both ways.

For most commissioned artworks, we do not ask for payment before the artwork has been created. Once the design has been approved, we carefully handcraft your artwork. When it is finished, we send you photographs of the completed piece so you can see the actual artwork before making your payment. After you confirm that the artwork has been created in accordance with the approved design, we prepare it for shipment. For larger or exceptional projects, we may agree on different payment arrangements before production begins.

Can I approve the wood species and colours before production begins?+

Yes.

Whenever colour plays an important role in a project, we can provide photographs of real wood species, finishes and colour samples so you know what to expect before production begins.

Can I see the design before production begins?+

Yes.

Before production begins, we work with you to develop and refine the design until we agree on the final concept. The design visualisation is intended to communicate the composition, proportions, materials and overall artistic direction of the artwork—not to predict every natural detail. Wood is a living material. Every board has its own grain, colour and character, and every finish interacts differently with each wood species. These natural variations are not imperfections—they are part of what makes every handcrafted piece unique. Production begins only after the design has been approved.

How long does a commissioned artwork take?+

Every project is different.

The production time depends on the size, complexity and techniques involved. Once we understand your project, we will provide an estimated production schedule and keep you informed throughout the process.

Do you ship internationally?+

Yes.

We carefully package our artworks and ship both within the European Union and internationally. For larger or particularly valuable commissioned artworks, we may use custom-made wooden transport cases or other protective packaging to ensure they arrive safely.

How should I care for my artwork?+

Our artworks are intended for indoor use.

Natural wood requires no special maintenance beyond occasional dusting with a soft, dry cloth. We also recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, excessive humidity and extreme temperature changes. If your artwork includes preserved moss or other natural materials, we will gladly provide specific care recommendations.

Can my commissioned artwork remain private?+

Of course.

Unless you agree otherwise, we treat every commissioned project with respect and discretion. If you prefer your artwork not to appear on our website, blog or social media, simply let us know before production begins. We will gladly respect your wishes.

Do you create only commissioned artworks?+

No.

Alongside commissioned projects, we also create original artworks inspired by our own ideas and artistic explorations. These pieces are available for purchase whenever they become part of our collection. Whether you choose an original design or commission something created especially for you, every MossArtum artwork is handcrafted with the same care and attention to detail.

I have an idea, but I'm not sure whether it can become a piece of art.+

That's exactly how many of our favourite projects begin. Sometimes it's a photograph. Sometimes it's a memory. Sometimes it's simply a feeling that someone wants to preserve. We love conversations like these. If an idea matters to you, we'd be happy to explore it together.
