Mini Botanical — Magnolia. Hand-Carved Walnut, Preserved Moss and Glass.

With its broad open petals and calm, balanced form, Magnolia is one of the most serene pieces in the Mini Botanical Collection.

The flower was carved by hand from walnut and placed within a pine hexagonal frame filled with preserved natural moss. A dark green glass cabochon forms its centre, creating a subtle connection between the carved wood and the living colour surrounding it.

The collection began with Victoria’s wish to create a group of compact floral artworks — small enough to bring character to an intimate corner, yet detailed enough to carry the unmistakable presence of a handmade object. Magnolia can be displayed alone or combined with other panels from the collection.

Magnolias are often associated with dignity, perseverance and quiet strength. These qualities are reflected in the generous, uncluttered petals and the calm way the flower occupies the frame.

The original artwork shown in the photographs has been sold. This design can be recreated to order in our family workshop.

Natural variations in the walnut grain, moss and glass cabochon mean that every new Magnolia will be slightly different. The composition and design will remain the same, but the materials will give each piece its own identity.
